The experience
When was the last time you were truly alone, without all the stimuli of life around you? With our Solo Weekend, you will experience 24 hours of silence with yourself on a unique private estate in the Veluwe.
Stepping into nature alone for inspiration and wisdom is as old as humanity. In today's increasingly fast-paced world, the value of this only grows. A solo experience is the perfect way to connect with deeper layers of life, or to give space to a question or challenge playing out in your life.
After signing up, you will receive a questionnaire with questions such as: why do you want to go solo? What are you afraid of? In a phone call, Thijs or Peter – founders of Back to the Wild – will give you personal advice to help you prepare as well as possible for your solo.
On Friday evening, you leave daily life behind: phone off, no distractions. Around the campfire, peace, slowing down, and stillness emerge. You eat together and share your intention for this weekend. You spend the night back to basics with a tarp that protects you from rain and wind.
The following morning, a few more powerful exercises to prepare for your solo. Then, find a spot in nature—your spot. You will spend the next 24 hours here alone and in silence. For a while, absolutely nothing needs to be done. This creates space for whatever is needed. Time to reflect, step back, and let go.
On Sunday, we gather again around the campfire. From connecting with yourself, you move to connecting with each other. We share our experience of what was and what is now. That is valuable. It provides new insights and perspectives.

Back to the wild
About Back to the Wild Since 2016, Back to the Wild has offered retreats for anyone who wants to go deep with themselves in a down-to-earth way. Alongside retreats with open registration, we create tailor-made programmes for teams. We work with local guides and experienced facilitators, and take you to the quietest, most remote natural areas in Europe and the Netherlands. Retreats Our retreats in raw nature give you insight into what is going on in your life, where it chafes, who you are and what you really want. Phones, watches, cameras, your work, stress and hassle: you leave it all behind. Without the noise, what needs to come up finally can. What lies hidden under all of life's stimuli, which a walk on the beach or in the woods doesn't reach. We create the ideal setting to work on yourself. Stepping back, connecting, feeling, reflecting, and learning to trust yourself and life. We also facilitate an experience that teaches you to deal with discomfort, in whatever form it takes: the discomfort that keeps sending you back to your comfort zone and your familiar patterns. In the wilderness you have no control over the elements. The only way to deal with them is acceptance. That experience makes discomfort in daily life a great deal easier to handle. Whether you come for personal reasons or as part of a leadership programme, going into the wilderness with Back to the Wild can be life-changing. It has made a deep impact on all our participants, personal and business alike. Depending on your intention, you reach results such as: - choices become easier to make; - more balance between work and private life; - letting go more easily of things that drain your energy; - more joy in life. Back to the Wild offers a unique combination: a back-to-basics experience with depth, a programme that follows the rhythm of nature, and plenty of room for your own experience (no "this is how it's done"). All of it guided by down-to-earth facilitators. We have felt the impact of withdrawing into nature ourselves. The wilderness is our greatest friend, mirror and medicine. Our expertise includes behavioural change, transformation, systemic work, meditation and breathwork. The result is a raw, back-to-basics experience with substance and impact.
